Val di Zoldo is ideal for walking. Here you can really enjoy nature and tranquility. You can walk straight from the forest into the high mountains. There are about 20 mountain huts and 10 bivouacs in the nearby area, ideal as a destination for a day hike with a delicious lunch or for a beautiful hut tour. You will spend one or more nights in a rifugio (mountain hut) during your trip. Little known, but very spectacular is, for example, the six-day Anello Zoldano. A little too long or have you never done a hut tour? No problem. Through bergXperience we can help you book and prepare these and other hut tent tours, completely tailored to your wishes and the composition of your group. But of course there are also countless beautiful day walks possible. We also have GPS tracks for the walks we have walked ourselves, so they are super easy to follow. If you have any questions, please contact us (see the contact page). Do this in time if you are interested in one or more overnight stays in a rifugio, because the huts often fill up quickly, especially in the high season.
Would you rather enjoy the mountains on two wheels? On a motorcycle, road bike or mountain bike, it's all possible. It is even an excellent idea, because Val di Zoldo is also an extremely suitable base for this. Because what else is there to explain about motorcycling in the Dolomites? Beautiful winding passes, alternated with often hardly less winding valleys. Or, as bike magazine Motoplus describes it in issue 16, 2022: “… the widely praised Val di Zoldo..” and “Dolomiti in perfection!” And for breaks there are plenty of nice restaurants, bars and gelaterias.
Would you rather work yourself? Every year the Dolomites are the setting for one or more stages in the Giro d'Italia. And not without reason: what a decor. And to be able to cycle in it yourself... We have already prepared a booklet with all the legendary Giro stages in the Dolomites. And the Sellaronda Bike Day is held twice a year; then the four famous passes around the Sellaronda massif are kept free for cyclists all day. No cars, no motorcycles, just cyclists. In 2023 the Sellaronda Bike Days are on June 10 and September 16. On June 25 there is the Dolomites Bike Day, a tourist day of 51 kilometers over the closed passes of Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola. And on July 7, the Maratona dles Dolomites competition, where participants can choose from 55, 106 or 138 kilometers.
You can also go off the asphalt on a mountain bike. If you want to do this entirely on your own, you must bring your own MTB. Click here for some routes. For those who don't feel like a long climb, a number of lifts are also open in the summer. They sometimes offer the opportunity to cycle a lap at altitude. You can always drive downhill alone. And of course there are guides to explore the mountains off the beaten track. And of course, apps like Komoot or Wikiloc offer numerous options for routes.
Experienced trail runners probably know Val di Zoldo, because it will be the backdrop for the Dolomiti Extreme Trail for the tenth time in 2023 on June 7, 8 and 9. With the choice between 11, 22, 55, 72 or 103 kilometers and the start just about on our doorstep, it seems clear to me that trail runners can indulge themselves here. For example, look at Wikiloc for inspiration and GPS files.
Do you want something extra? Bouldering, via ferratas (Klettersteigs, for the German-oriented among us) and mountain climbing, it's all possible in the area. The Civetta-Moiazza group, for example, is the mecca for Italian via ferrata enthusiasts. The many challenging via ferratas are generally not suitable for beginners. There are of course guides who can show you around this world.
There are of course plenty of opportunities for mountain climbing. The tourist office already has some suggestions.
You can go bouldering at Longarone, about a twenty-minute drive from Villa Vittorio. At Maè there are six routes, ranging from 6c to 8b (https://27crags.com/crags/mae) and at Erto there are no fewer than 243 routes, nicely spread over all levels between 3 to 8c (https://27crags.com/crags/erto).
